Meet Your Director and Host

I am Dr. Abdullah Wali-Uddin, director and host of Al Manaarah Dawah Center of Salisbury Podcast.  I am also a researcher in Islamic Studies. I have formal education in Islamic Studies and made this site to faciltate dawah activities and Islamic education in the Salisbury Rowan area.  I will be sharing my thoughts and concerns about the issues I have observed concerning Muslim minorities in the West and particularly the United States. I hope this will aid those who are seeking to learn more about Islam in achieving their personal goals in religious studies.

I was born and raised in the United States and have studied abroad in Saudi Arabia. I have experienced living in an Arabic society for over 11 years and have an advanced level of Arabic in reading, speaking and writing. My research includes that experience while strictly adhering to the principles in the Glorious Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammed, peace and blessings be upon him.

I traveled to Saudi Arabia in 2008 to work for a private school where I taught science for two years. After that, I started teaching English as a Second Language and taught in this capacity for a little over 9 years.  During my time in Saudi Arabia, I earned my Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from the American University of Islamic Studies in the United States and I continued my studies in the Arabic language in order to study with the scholars from Saudi Arabia.  After achieving a sufficient level in the Arabic language, I enrolled in an evening program at Umm Al Quraa Institute in Makkah, Saudi Arabia where I completed a 2 year program and received a diploma in Shari’ah.

As I continued seeking knowledge from the scholars in Saudi Arabia, I came upon an opportunity to study at the Academy of the Prophet’s Masjid (Peace be Upon Him) in Madinah, Saudi Arabia where I completed a graduate certificate in Muslim Chaplaincy for providing religious guidance and counseling for Muslims in Muslim Minority countries.

Around 2016, I was accepted into the University of South Africa’s Ph.D. Program in Religious Studies. In 2019, I completed my Ph.D. specializing in Islamic Studies.

I adhere to the Salafi Methodology in the application of Islam in Aqeedah (beliefs), actions, and understanding.  This basically means that I refer all matters of Islamic law back to the Glorious Quran (Speech of Allah) and the Authentic Prophetic Sunnah (practice, way, approval) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) who was born in the year 570 of the Christian Era and died at the age of 63 years.
